Thanks to social media, life-saving warnings can now spread faster than ever. One such warning comes from Andrea Pergola, whose 15-year-old son Logan had a terrifying encounter with one of North Americaโ€™s most venomous caterpillars.

While collecting tree branches for volunteer work, Logan felt a sudden sting. Minutes later, a red, grid-like rash appeared on his arm and quickly spread, bringing intense burning pain. He became dizzy and pale.

Loganโ€™s grandfather found the culprit: a fuzzy, โ€œcuteโ€-looking caterpillar, later identified as highly poisonous. The family rushed Logan to the ER after realizing home remedies werenโ€™t working.

Andrea took to Facebook to warn others:

> โ€œIt is not native to Florida, but to Texas, and just happens to live here now\… Please, if stung, go to the ER โ€“ Benadryl wonโ€™t be enough.โ€

Her message serves as a powerful reminder: some of natureโ€™s most dangerous creatures donโ€™t always look the part.
