**Las Vegas Man Seeks to Learn if Younger Brother Is Also His Biological Son After Years of Maternal Abuse**
Logan Gifford, 26, has filed a petition in Las Vegas family court to determine if his younger brother, born in 2009, is also his biological sonโfollowing years of sexual abuse he says he suffered at the hands of their mother, Doreene Gifford.
Logan says the abuse began when he was 10 and continued into his teens. After revealing the trauma to a therapist, Doreene was charged and later entered an Alford pleaโmaintaining her innocence while acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence for conviction. She was sentenced to 8โ10 years in prison and is now incarcerated again after violating parole.
Logan now has temporary guardianship of his younger brother and is pursuing DNA testing. Despite the painful possibility, he says heโs committed to the boyโs well-being regardless of the outcome.
โIf my brother is my son, thatโs an unthinkable realityโbut heโs here and deserves a safe life,โ Logan told the *Las Vegas Review-Journal*.
Legal proceedings may shift from guardianship to custody depending on paternity results. Shared DNA with Loganโs father could complicate the testing.
