One of the biggest home safety fears many people have is the risk of fire. Jason Whitaker from Kentucky recently shared a chilling reminder of just how easily it can happen β and from a source few people expect.
In 2019, Whitaker noticed a strange smell in his home and suspected an electrical problem. After searching, he discovered the cause: a spiral light bulb packed with ladybugs, drawn by the bulbβs warmth and light. The insects had built up over several years, creating a serious fire hazard.
Whitaker quickly replaced all his spiral bulbs and posted a warning on Facebook, urging others to inspect their bulbs too. His message went viral, with over 430,000 shares, as others shared similar experiences.
The warning isnβt meant to cause panic, but itβs an important reminder: check your spiral light bulbs β and other light fixtures β regularly. A few minutes of inspection could prevent disaster.
