Hannah Glass, a 19-year-old college freshman from Wisconsin, tragically died after a severe allergic reaction to a homemade brownie that unknowingly contained peanut flour. Despite being careful due to her known peanut allergy, she wasn’t aware of the hidden ingredient used as a gluten-free alternative.
After just two bites on November 5, Hannah began reacting. Though she took Benadryl and tried to rest, her condition worsened rapidly. Her lung collapsed, and she lost consciousness before her EpiPen could be used. She was rushed to the hospital but suffered irreversible brain damage due to prolonged seizures.
Hannah passed away on November 10, 2024. Before her death, she was honored with an “Honor Walk” for organ donation, saving four lives. Her parents now urge others to stay vigilant about allergies and ensure EpiPens are up to date.
Her story is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly food allergies can become deadly—and how one life can still make a difference.
