It’s definitely not a good sign and has a chilling meaning 😳
A college student was stunned to find mushrooms growing out of the wall in their shared bathroom. The bizarre discovery prompted them to post a photo on Reddit, asking, “Does anyone know what it is and if I will be dying???”
The strange growth, around 4–5 inches long, turned out to be ink cap mushrooms—harmless themselves, but a major red flag. According to a mycology enthusiast in the comments, mushrooms growing indoors often signal serious water damage and hidden fungal growth inside the walls.
Experts warned that by the time mushrooms appear, it usually means extensive repairs are needed. The student was advised to alert building management immediately before things get worse.
So while it may have looked like something out of The Last of Us, the real horror is costly water damage and crumbling walls—every renter’s nightmare.
