Sylvester Stallone, known for playing tough characters like Rocky and Rambo, recently opened up about his painful childhood on the Unwaxed Podcast hosted by his daughters. The 78-year-old revealed that a powerful scene in Rocky II, where Rocky lashes out at his trainer Mickey, was inspired by unresolved anger toward his father.

“I was terrified of him,” Stallone said. “Writing that scene was like therapy—it let me say what I never could as a kid.”

He shared that his parents left him in a boarding house for years, and his mother often made cruel remarks. These experiences led him to withdraw into comic books and fantasy, even creating superhero costumes to wear under his clothes for strength.

Despite the trauma, Stallone channeled his pain into creativity, turning Rocky into a cultural icon. Now, with a new film Armoured on the way, he continues to inspire — not just through action, but with honesty and vulnerability.
