Dad Shares Innocent Photo Of His Son At Beach, Authorities Act Fast After Spotting Small Detail⬇️
A family in Carmarthenshire, Wales, had a terrifying near-miss after unknowingly playing on an unexploded World War II mine, mistaking it for a barnacle-covered buoy during a beach outing.
Gareth and Kelly Gravell and their children, Erin and Ellis, posed for photos on the object at Burry Port beach—only to learn days later that it was a still-active WWII bomb. Authorities soon closed the beach and carried out a controlled detonation.
Gareth shared the shocking news online, joking, “So the buoy my kids were jumping on all weekend turns out to be a WWII bomb. Oops.” The post quickly went viral.
Experts believe the bomb had been buried for decades and was recently exposed by the tides. While no one was harmed, the family says they’ll be far more cautious during future beach trips.
The incident is a sobering reminder of the lingering risks from wartime relics and the importance of reporting suspicious objects to authorities.
