Another tragedy struck Lake Lanier. Ramon Diaz-Soria, 27, was celebrating his birthday with friends when he jumped off a boat without wearing a life jacket and tragically never came back up. On June 14, 2025, Ramon Diaz-Soria, 27, drowned at Georgia’s Lake Lanier after jumping from a boat during a birthday party. Though he wore a life jacket, it wasn’t secured properly, and he sank quickly. Diaz-Soria couldn’t swim, and his life jacket was later found floating. Despite rescue attempts, he never resurfaced.

Authorities resumed the search the next day using sonar and found his body in 60 feet of water. His death was ruled a drowning.
