Dylan Jay Watts, a 28-year-old father from Broulee, Australia, passed away on March 22 after a severe bacterial infection destroyed his lungs — shocking loved ones despite his known health struggles.

Dylan’s lung issues began in 2021, when two holes were discovered. By 2024, doctors found 72 holes. He endured chronic coughing, exhaustion, and repeated hospitalizations. His sister revealed he carried a backpack full of medications and antibiotics.

Despite the odds, Dylan remained hopeful for recovery. Just five days after returning home with plans for long-term care, he died — days before his 29th birthday.

A GoFundMe page launched to support funeral costs has raised over AU$4,600. His family and friends remember him as a devoted father and fighter, urging others to cherish time with their loved ones.

“Let this be a reminder that those you love can be gone in an instant,” his sister wrote.
