Four men planned to rob the pizza delivery guy when he showed up at their door. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t get a clear look at his face. If they had, they wouldn’t have made such a foolish mistake.

Four men in Illinois thought they’d found an easy target when they planned to rob a pizza delivery driver — but they had no idea who they were messing with.

After placing a last-minute order, the men intended to steal the pizzas and assault what they expected to be a small, young delivery guy. However, the regular drivers had already left for the day, so the pizza shop owner himself went out to make the delivery.

Instead of a typical delivery person, the men were met by **Napoleon Harris**, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound former NFL linebacker turned state senator and business owner.

When three of the men jumped out to attack, they quickly realized they were no match for Harris. Though they managed to grab his wallet, their luck ran out soon after.

Harris chased the suspects in his car while calling the police, pursuing them into a lumberyard where they fled on foot. Thanks to Harris’s quick action and cooperation with law enforcement, three suspects were apprehended, while a fourth remains at large, believed to be hiding in Indiana.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects’ getaway vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, was stolen and had blood on it. The vehicle belonged to Lester “Roy” Jones, a man found murdered in Georgia. This means that in addition to foiling a robbery, Harris may have helped crack a murder case.

Reflecting on the incident, police spokesman Sean Howard said, “They were expecting a scrawny 5-foot-9 guy, and got Harris instead.” Harris himself expressed relief that his staff were safe and believed he was better equipped to handle the situation.
