Man Buys Photo For $2 At Garage Sale, Realizes It’s Worth Millions After Spotting Small Detail

In Fresno, California, collector Randy Guijarro bought an old photo for just $2 — only to discover it features Billy the Kid playing croquet with his gang in 1878.

After a year of expert analysis, Kagin’s Inc. authenticated the image, valuing it at $5 million. It’s only the second known photo of the legendary outlaw, the first having sold for $2.3 million in 2010.

The discovery adds a new layer to Billy the Kid’s legacy — transforming a thrift store find into a historic treasure of the Wild West.
