In 2016, a tragic incident in India’s Barmer district shocked locals when a camel killed its owner, Urjaram, after being left tethered for hours in extreme heat without water or shade. Temperatures had soared past 109°F, and witnesses said the distressed animal had been growling and pacing. When Urjaram finally approached, the camel snapped—grabbing him by the neck, flinging him to the ground, and ultimately severing his head.

It reportedly took 25 villagers over six hours to restrain the enraged animal. Locals said there had been prior tension between the two.

Though camels are often seen as gentle giants, they can become dangerously aggressive when mistreated. Weighing over 2,000 pounds and armed with powerful jaws and kicks, their strength can be lethal.

Similar incidents have occurred globally, highlighting the need for respectful animal care. These rare but brutal events remind us: animals have limits—and they will fight back when pushed.
