Bride And Groom Are ‘Dead Inside’ After More Than 100 People Died At Their Wedding

A devastating fire broke out during a wedding reception in Qaracosh, Iraq, claiming the lives of over 100 people. The tragedy unfolded as bride Haneen, 18, and groom Ravan, 27, were dancing at their celebration. Fireworks ignited, sending flames through the ceiling, causing chaos as guests struggled to escape. One survivor, 17-year-old Raniaa Waad, recalled how the hall filled with smoke, making it impossible to see or breathe.

Haneen lost her mother and brother, while Ravan lost 15 relatives in the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unclear, with speculation pointing to a short-circuit. Ravan described the harrowing moment when the ceiling began to melt, and guests rushed to escape, though only one malfunctioning fire extinguisher was available.

Both the bride and groom are emotionally devastated, with Ravan stating, “Inside we are dead.” He also shared how he managed to pull his wife to safety as others trampled her. The couple plans to leave the area, unable to bear the memories of the tragedy.

Iraq’s Prime Minister has called for immediate efforts to support the affected families. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this unimaginable loss.
