In April 1988, experienced skydiver Ivan Lester McGuire tragically died after jumping from a plane without a parachute. While filming a training session at 10,500 feet, McGuire exited the plane to film from the best angle, only to realize too late he had forgotten to strap on his parachute.
His final words, “Oh my God, no,” were captured on audio. Despite over 800 jumps, this devastating accident shocked the skydiving community. Investigators believe fatigue or distraction may have caused the oversight, and had anyone noticed, they would have stopped him.
