Americans won’t have to wait long to use the app again 👀 (link in the comments)

TikTok’s ban in the US could soon be reversed.

The app went offline on January 19, displaying a message citing a law banning TikTok due to national security concerns over its China-based parent company, ByteDance. The ban followed President Joe Biden’s deadline for TikTok to separate from ByteDance, which the Supreme Court upheld earlier this week.

However, with Donald Trump’s inauguration tomorrow (January 20), the ban may be lifted. Trump plans to issue an executive order granting ByteDance more time to find a US-approved buyer, delaying the ban’s enforcement. He also proposed the US government or an American company hold a 50% ownership stake in a joint venture.

The UK government clarified it has no plans to ban TikTok, stating this is a US-specific issue.
