A supercomputer study recently predicted a bleak future for Earth, with the potential destruction of civilization around 250 million years from now. The study, published in Nature Geoscience, analyzed geological and biological factors, forecasting the merging of tectonic plates and the creation of a new supercontinent, Pangaea Ultima.

This process would lead to extreme temperatures, increased volcanic activity, and harsh conditions, making it nearly impossible for mammals to survive. As temperatures soar to 40-50°C and extreme humidity takes hold, only 8-16% of land would be habitable.

While the prognosis is grim, there’s plenty of time for humanity to prepare—or perhaps even find a new home on Mars.
