TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods implement new system to thwart theft

Shoppers at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods may soon notice employees wearing body cameras. This safety measure, implemented by TJX Companies, aims to deter crime, de-escalate incidents, and enhance store safety.

“Body cameras are one of many ways we support a safe store environment,” a TJX spokesperson explained, noting only trained staff will use them.

Retail expert Carol Spieckerman highlighted the challenge of managing TJX’s “treasure-hunt” inventory model, which encourages frequent visits but complicates tracking.

TJX clarified that footage will only be shared with law enforcement or via subpoena, though activation timelines remain unspecified.
