The birth of twin elephants in Amboseli National Park has ignited hope for local conservation efforts. Peru, a nearly 40-year-old elephant, had long struggled to conceive, critical for boosting the herd’s survival. Conservationist Kenneth Ole Nashu closely monitored her progress, aware of the urgency.

Peru’s pregnancy faced challenges due to her age and limited veterinary tests. When she showed signs of distress, her protective herd made medical intervention difficult. Despite efforts to identify the issue, Peru surprised everyone by giving birth to twins.
