Three University of Wyoming swimmers tragically lost their lives in a car crash near the Wyoming-Colorado border. The victims, Charlie Clark, 19, from Las Vegas; Luke Slabber, 21, from Cape Town, South Africa; and Carson Muir, 18, from Birmingham, Alabama, died when their vehicle veered off U.S. Highway 287, rolling multiple times.
Two other teammates sustained non-life-threatening injuries and have been released from the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest the crash, which occurred near Livermore, Colorado, may have been influenced by factors like speed or distraction, but the cause remains under investigation.
University President Ed Seidel and Athletic Director Tom Burman expressed deep sorrow, offering counseling services to support the grieving community. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon also extended condolences, urging the public to keep the victims’ families and friends in their thoughts.
This tragedy has deeply impacted the university and its community, as they mourn the loss of three promising young lives.
