After losing her son, Valerie Watts sold his crib at a yard sale but was surprised when the buyer returned it a week later. Valerie had been excited to welcome her baby boy, but her joy turned to heartbreak when he was stillborn due to a pinched umbilical cord. Unable to part with the crib, it remained in her home as a painful reminder of her loss.

At the yard sale, Gerald Kumpula noticed the crib and offered to buy it, even though it wasn’t officially for sale. Valerie hesitated but ultimately agreed. Gerald, unaware of the crib’s story at first, later learned from his wife that Valerie’s son had passed. Touched by the tragedy, Gerald repurposed the crib into a bench and returned it to Valerie.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Valerie found comfort in the thoughtful gesture, as the bench became both a tribute to her son and a source of healing.
