Researchers exploring a deep-sea ridge near Hawaii uncovered a bizarre underwater formation resembling the famous Yellow Brick Road.

During an expedition along Hawaii’s Liliʻuokalani Ridge, the crew aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus used a remotely operated vehicle to investigate a fissure in the seamounts. To their amazement, they discovered a unique rock formation.

One crew member joked, “It’s the road to Atlantis,” while others expressed awe, calling the discovery “bizarre” and “crazy.” The footage quickly sparked online speculation.

Scientists later explained that the formation is a fractured flow of **hyaloclastite**, a volcanic rock created during high-energy eruptions. Though it doesn’t lead to Atlantis, it highlights the wonders of the deep ocean.
